Big turnout for public meeting shows demand for Swimming Pool

Over 100 people attended a public meeting calling for a swimming pool in Balbriggan.

Local Councilllors Tony Murphy, Grainne Maguire, Karen Power and Tom O' Leary attended to show support, while apologies were given by Brendan Ryan. Louise O' Reilly TD also spoke in sport of the campaign, while Sinead Lucey Brennan said her party colleague Lorraine Clifford Lee has raised the need for a pool in the Seanad.

Chairperson of the North Fingal Pool Campaign David Flynn reflected on previous activities, progress and promises to deliver a swimming pool in Skerries and Balbriggan which ultimately failed. There are important points to note that support this campaign. They include the fact that Fingal County Council is the only local authority without a swimming pool . Modular builds reduce costs of delivery significantly. Swimming has a huge health and well being benefit as well as being a vital life skill.

David stated that the committee will continue to lobby and campaign on the behalf of the people of North Fingal for a much needed and desired swimming pool. We hope to build on the momentum and positive news remaining vigilant and working with Fingal County Council & Swim Ireland to get the swimming pool that this area so badly needs.

To build on the successful meeting, the campaign has now launched a petition and asks all to sign and share to build support for a North Fingal Swimming Pool Swimming Pool for North Fingal | Uplift
